Sustainability Assessment of Public Transport, Part II—Applying a Multi-Criteria Assessment Method to Compare Different Bus Technologies

چکیده
Many Swedish regional transport authorities want bus fleets driven on renewable fuels. However, it may be difficult to know what technology, or combination of technologies, choose. There is a need for improved knowledge and supportive methods sustainability assessments that can support public procurement processes. In the companion article (Part I), multi-criteria assessment (MCA) method technologies’ was established, consisting four key areas 12 indicators. this article, purpose apply established in part I different technologies by looking at general case assessing buses diesel, Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME), ethanol, natural gas, biomethane electricity. Each technology assessed scale from Very Poor Good according indicators: technical maturity, daily operational availability, total cost ownership, investments infrastructure, stability, non-renewable primary energy efficiency, greenhouse gas emission savings, air pollution, noise, local/regional impact land aquatic environments, security sociotechnical systems services. The results show strengths weaknesses each which are later discussed. We also critically reflect upon usefulness accuracy MCA method.

The size and capacity of Data Centers (DCs) is growing at a rapid pace to meet the increased demand of data processing and storage capacity requested by a digital information society. Since DCs are infrastructures that have large energy consumption, there is a need to change their design approach to make them more efficient and more environment friendly. This research was motivated by the plann...

The majority of sustainability assessments of the bio based industries are primarily focused on the environmental and economic aspects, while social impacts are rarely considered. While overlooking social dimension can have a serious harmful impact across supply chains. To address this issue, this study proposes a modified systemic approach for a social sustainability impact assessment of the te...
متن کاملAssessment Criteria for a Sustainability Impact Assessment in Europe
Public economics usually emphasizes the task of “setting the framework conditions” for markets. In formulating such setting, however, research has to deal with imperfect markets, uncertainties, and unknown impacts of any regulatory reform. Against this background, the EU undertakes efforts towards ‘regulatory impact assessment’ and ‘sustainability impact assessment’. The following article deriv...
متن کاملSoft Computing-based New Interval-valued Pythagorean Triangular Fuzzy Multi-criteria Group Assessment Method without Aggregation: Application to a Transport Projects Appraisal
In this paper, an interval-valued Pythagorean triangular fuzzy number (IVPTFN) as a useful tool to handle decision-making problems with vague quantities is defined. Then, their operational laws are developed. By introducing a novel method of making a decision on the concept of possibility theory, a multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) problem is considered, in which the attribute value...
